It doesn't have to be a NIC. It can be a hub or other component.
Everything can work except one app. and it can still be the hardware.
If you're sure R:Base is solid, you need to isolate the problem by
removing one other factor at a time until you find the errors go away.
This requires time, patience and cooperation.
