Ben: That sort of programming is still available using Macro Substitution. I use it daily and it does a lot of cool stuff. My only problem is in the situation I described where I have to use macro substitution inside an expression. In this case (only) the parser gets confused, probably because of the double meaning for the & character in R:Base (string concatenation and macro substitution). I'm sure the ambiguity could be resolved by the parser, and if I don't find an easy work around I will probably post this to RDCC. Interestingly enough, the following DOES work: SELECT (&vVarName / 2) INTO vResult + FROM Dummy WHERE LIMIT = 1 which makes me think that under certain circumstances the parser can make out what I am trying to do. -- Larry __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
