Stan: Our network guru uses VNC here. I have not. He said it would be a last resort. It is slow. In comparison to PC Anywhere, use VNC first. It is simple and free. It is relatively easy to set up. It is possible to use a browser to view the screen of the remote system.
He especially likes it to view the screen of a remote user while talking them thru something. Within our LAN it is quite nice. Hope it helps.
