Hi Tom, Hopefully, when I've completed what I want to do, I'll report to the list and explain how and what I've done. Using Bill's suggestion of utilising a table I _hope_ that I can see how to have a number of reports based on the data (via variables or views) out a single table thus allowing me to alter headers and footers (at least) without a change to any of the reports.
I'm creating output files using HTML and if this works it means that the hard work of creating the tags is very much simplified... Let's wait and see! The template is great for new reports and I'll have to update mine - it's the reports that I already have that are the problem. Even now, it would be better to be able to paste the variables en block along with the fields but anything is better than re-typing text over and over again.
