You could do it something like this:

R> project temp_form from sys_forms using all where sys_form_name8 =
'myform'
R> update temp_form set sys_form_name8 = 'newform'
R> append temp_form to sys_forms

I am assuming that R:base will let you get away with the initial project
that will have columns that are reserved names.  If that doesn't work, you
will have jump through some hoops giving your temp table different col names
and then inser into the temp table, update it, and then insert back into the
sys_forms tabele.
