Do you have Rscope?
You should try to look at that table with Rscope when it disappears.

Let me make sure I understand this problem.
You have a table and lets call it TABLE1, and you have a view VIEW1 that 
drives off of TABLE1.

If you do a LIST command, VIEW1 shows up, but TABLE1 does not.
If you do SELECT * FROM VIEW1, the data from TABLE1 shows up.
If you do SELECT * FROM TABLE1,  what happens?
