Bill,
Have you considered using ODBC (open database connectivity) to pull data
from R:BASE? If you are using PC SAS, it really is fairly simple. Once you
set up the ODBC driver you just call up a particular table in PC SAS and
limit the data retrieved with a WHERE and/or KEEP clause. For example:
LIBNAME RBNHD01 ODBC DATASRC=DBNAME USER=XXXXX PASSWORD=YYYYYY;
RUN;
OPTIONS ERRORS=2 NODATE;
****CALL TABLE DEMO*********************************************;
DATA DEMO;
SET RBNHD01.DEMO;
WHERE STUDYNO='010058';
KEEP STUDYNO SPECNO ALIQUOT RECEIVED;
RUN;
The only down side is that it ties up your database while you are running PC
SAS. Hope this helps! Don't you love SAS?
Cheryl

Subject: Export from Rbase Win 6.5++ to SAS
I am converting a database to Rbase (from a compiled basic program) and
one of it's features is to send data to SAS. In the past, exporting
involved creating an ASCII file with column specified output. SAS
would read it as follows:
data BEETS01;infile BEETS01 lrecl=228 pad;
input trial $ 3-8 year 3-4 plot $ 13-16 rep ccode 30-32 entryskip$
33-48
stand 49 cr1 cr2 cr3 cr4 cr5 cr6 cr;
Is there an option to get SAS to read information from Rbase which
would avoid issues of having to get data into specific columns from
Rbase for SAS to read (eg. CSV, XLS, DBF) ? I haven't had SAS read
other file formats, so I am not certain which combination may be easier
for transferring from Rbase to SAS.
Thanks. Bill
