Yes, Steve. My typing skills show again <g>
Run 'Long File Name' is what it should have read

<However, your suggestion makes me think that I could "stick" the

file names in a database, if that wouldn't prove to slow, and look 'em

up at the beginning, so that I just hit the DB 1x and re-use the var's

as I go - say, that might be a smart way to extend your suggestion.>
That will work, or, if you use a Choose #list, you could put them all in a
variable, then choose the one you want from the choose box, such as

*(Replace the following items for the list choices
Option1
option2
option3
option4
option5
End of Choice replacements )

Label ChooseS
*( Set Messages on ; set error messages on )
Set Var vPick Text
SET VAR vList TEXT = + 'Option1,Option2,Option3,Option4,Option5,Exit'
Set Var vTitle Text = 'Menu Title'
set var vCap text = 'Caption Title'
*( Set vLines to the same number of lines as the list variables)
set var vlines inte = 6

CHOOSE vPick FROM #LIST .vList AT CENTER CENTER TITLE .vtitle CAPTION .vCap +
 lines .vLines

If vPick = 'Exit' or vPick = '[Esc]' then
  show var v%
  GoTo ChooseE
endif

If vPick = 'Option1' then
 Run 'Long File Name 1'
Endif
If vPick = 'Option2' then
 Run 'Long File Name 2'

If vPick = 'Option3' then
 Run 'Long File Name 3'
Endif

If vPick = 'Option4' then
 Run 'Long File Name 4'
Endif

If vPick = 'Option5' then
 Run 'Long File Name 5'
Endif
GoTo ChooseS
Label ChooseE
Clear var vList, vPick
CLS

Return
By using the choose command with the #List option, you don't have to be
connected to any database, which would make it somewhat easier not to loose a
connection. Just MHO <g>

I hope it helps
