Tricia,

Have you checked to see how much disk space is allocated on the network for you.  You may not have enough disk space allocated on the network for what you are doing.

In addition to the error messages, the slow operation is a clue.

When the database is running short of available disk space, everything takes l-o-n-g-e-r.  The disk needs a certain amount of 'work space.'  So even if it looks like there is extra, it may not be enough.

It is also easy to 'grow' your database to a HUGE size by dropping tables, and doing other database changes or maintenance.  You can often greatly reduce the size by reloading the database (or packing.)

rbase 6.5++ windows (on a network)

This may be an unrelated problem, but when I gateway data into my tables I get the following message:

"There is insufficient disk space on either the target drive or the temporary file drive.  The operation may fail.  Do you wish to continue?

I do continue, and my data seems to gateway fine.

... and my database is running very slow.  Even when I move the scroll bar in a table it moves very slowly.
