Gary, I'd suggest double-checking which fields you have indexed.  I tried to
find an older e-mail I sent about this, but I've experienced something very
similar w/3-4 users.  I checked my WHERE's and my ORDER BY's f/possible
fields f/which to CREATE INDEX's.  I did find a couple.  Although it wasn't
so critical in single-user, it appears that it's absolutely CRITICAL in
multi-user to carefully consider what should be INDEXed.  Anyway,
thereafter, (just about all) multi-user performance was almost as quick as
single-user, despite not having the best infrastructure.

BTW, we run NT-Server and WIN9x/2000, and the boxes are somewhat dated at
this point.

Also, you might look into TRANSACTION settings, but I don't know much about
this.
