I've put off asking this question for some time because it sounds so utterly
stupid:

Sometimes, if I run R:Base and do whatever then disconnect and leave R:Base
open at the R:> but doing nothing then open Windows Explorer and go to
C:\RBTI\RBWin65 and single-click on the directory in the folders panel my PC
goes extremely slowly and rarely but sometimes crashes completely. Trying to
double-click on the RBW65PP3.TXT file, for instance, is almost impossible
because the mouse either won't get to it or jumps past it!

Every other directory seems ok it's just that particular one with R:Base
open. It doesn't seem to matter what I've done or not done in R:Base or
anything else and it's fine if R:Base is not running.

Have I got some special gremlin or has anybody else had similar effects?

Regards,
Alastair.
