Gunnar:
I do not know if it is a typo on your e-mail but delimit would normally be
"," not "." , at leas in the US. I know some countries use "," instead of
"." for decimals so you may want to use a different delimiter such as "|"
Also, make sure to SET MESSAGES ON and SET ERROR MESSAGES ON to catch all
the messages/error messages. You could also use TRACE to go one line at the
time and pinpoint where you are having problems. You may also try packing
the database before you do an UNLOAD, I found that PACK solves a lot of
problems, particularly with indices. I know how frustrating debugging can
be; on the other hand, it sure feels good when you find the cause and fix
the problem.
Don't forget Murphy's Law:
1. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong
2. When something goes wrong, it will happen at the worst possible time
And my favorite:
3. If nothing has gone wrong, you have obviously overlooked something
Good luck and happy "bug" hunting...

I have verified and verified and verified again
I have suspected even some more settings like lineend and idquotes and
in the process I got actually to learn Howe to utilize lineend in my
application. So a good thing has come out of this
But quotes is ' null is -0- and delimt is . and date is yyyy-mm-dd and
time is hh:mm:ss checked double checked and checked again.

You may want to verify your setting, quotes, null, delimit, date and
time
formats, zero, etc. Sometimes this settings may be in conflict with
stored
data.

Subject: RE: Unload all/Reload/ Pack

You have some points here
Thats why I allmost allways do a reload rather then a pack (except when
I am lazzy), but recently I did a number of unload all and started a new
db. For some tables I lost the data, I had to go back to the backup db
and could recover the data (I used unload as asci and load). Eveything
seams to be restored but I am the perverse that are worried since
something went wrong who do I know that everything is right?
Gunnar thanks Bernie

True.

False. You have a better result. All tables are rewritten and some
data
problems can be cured.

>3. If I do unload all then delete the database base an load it back,

False. You have a better result than RELOAD. The entire database is
completely rebuilt and any corrupt data should become apparent.

Probably nothing. Sometimes they don't give the same result. How do
you
know the results are different?
