they are very comparable.  as i stated in my previous post, i find any
differences in weight and efficiency to be absolutely negligible.  my
only issue with the shimano is that if it craps out on me, i think i'm
pretty much out of luck (i could be wrong on this), whereas the
schmidt can be serviced.

for what it's worth, i find my shimano/B&M IQ CYO lighting set-up is
every bit as wonderful as my schmidt/edelux set-up. the big question
is, which set-up will last longer?

anyone have numbers on premature failures on the schmidt and shimano
dynohubs?
