They're getting that kind of money for a 23mm Michelin Pro3Race.  If
that tire's worth that much money (considering how little material there
is in it by comparison!) then surely the Hetre is worth it as well.  I
doubt the Pro3Race is going to be as dramatically different from its
competition as the Hetre.

Face it: the dollar has lost a lot of value in the past couple of years.
These prices are in part a reflection of that.  As for the rest, it's
obvious that we're talking about low (sales) volume here, and tire molds
are not cheap, so amortizing the cost of the molds is a noticeable part
of the price of each of these tires.
