Iron Rider didn't create the route. It was run as an ACP brevet, so, it would not be permittable to detour and still receive credit for the ride.

I am sad to hear Toronto is not a good place to ride a bike. People I know have always spoken of it fondly. I guess not so much as a cycling destination.
