I think the rubber hoods on the Shimano levers and the shape of the Noodles are particularly well matched. There's a smooth transition from the ramps to the hoods. I have the Tektros (cheaper kind than the nice drilliums you have), and the shape of the hood doesn't quite get you the transition that Shimano levers can achieve. I've tried to move the lever further up the bend, but then I can't reach the lever from the hooks.
