The only thing is that Paul's use the long, mtb pads .   They use kool-stop 
thinline pads, which I have never seen so I'm not sure if they are able to 
be shortened like the regular Eagle 2's are .  They likely are the same 
internal structure, but I don't know.  Inside the Eagles there is a metal 
frame the pad is formed around, but it does not extend the entire length of 
the pad , stopping right where the last "notch" in the pad surface is. 
That's where they can be cut off. Depending on the frame, you may need to 
slightly file it a hare to clear. 

I've used neither the 2 brakes you mentioned, but the Shimano appears to be 
a bit better in adjustability of the pad reach .  Maybe Pauls give you 
spacers like the Shimano, idk .  No 2 frames fit canti's the exact same 
way, so adjustability is always a big plus !
