My $.02:

Thunder Burts are really fast on road, and have a good edge profile for
dirt. They wear quickly though.

They have a flat profile, so dig in really well in the dirt, but feel a bit
sketchy at high speed road cornering. LIke 'em a lot and very happy with
them in 650B size!

I've never used the Sams, but it looks like they may have slightly more
pronounced center knobs, so would therefore be a bit slower on road, with a
bit more grab on dirt.
