Well, good news - now that I've muddled up this Rivet thread: I finally spoke with Selle Anatomica. Turns out I wasn't the only one frustrated, and they now offer a base with longer rails. It isn't listed, and it isn't standard, but at least its available. Also, Carol - Tom's sister - is still running the company and handling customer service.
