The Great Divide MTB Trail crosses the Monarch Crest Trail at Marshall Pass 
on a dirt road (aka Continental Divide and Colorado Trails at that point). 
It is actually a very different experience of that area, as it climbs up a 
railroad grade road to the pass and then down the other side to Sargent, 
while the CT/CD Monarch Crest approaches along high alpine ridge. Well 
worth doing both if you get the chance. Here are photos from both from
