We are planning an Oct. trip to the west coast. The plan is to ship the tandem ahead to a reliable bike shop, then fly to Portland, visit the city for a few days, then take a leisurely ride down the Willamette Valley Bikeway to Eugene, and finish up by driving to El Cerrito to visit our son & his family. We have never been to Oregon so welcome suggestions about places to stay, to see, to eat, to avoid, and routes to ride.
I can certainly put the bike back together if I need to, but thought it would expedite & simplify things to ship it ahead rather than lug the two suitcases around and reassemble it in a hotel or on the street.
