How large of a tire do you want to ride?
The Appaloosa will take a considerably larger tire.
There are lots of choices these days in high quality tires in really fat sizes.
There is very little handicap in running 55mm tires and they really make a bike
more versatile.
They are both very evolved bikes tailored to the style of riding the folks at
Riv enjoy, you can't go wrong either way, just carefully consider the tire size
you will use the most.
