I just did the same thing. Same waist, bought the same size. They're a little tighter than I anticipated but I feel like I can get used to them. If I can't, there are two options: wear them without the buckle clipped so they're just elastic waisted (works great), or alter the elastic stops for the buckle to give it some more room to flex. The second one probably doesn't make much sense without looking at the shorts.
