I just got a used Big One that happily will work with both my Dahon and my
Matthews. On the Dahon it just hangs down from VO loops bolted to the
Flite's rails, and I cut slots for a seatpost strap; the straps, loops, and
dowel support the weight, and I've carried 30+ lb this way with other
saddlebags with no ill effects. I know that this method of attachment
doesn't make use of the bag's nice flat and shallow profile, but it's fine
for very short trips to the grocery store, which is what the Dahon is used
for when it is not folded and in the back of the car.)

But for the Matthews, the bag will be strapped to similar saddle rail loops
and sit squarely on the rack. The rack has no "tombstone", but I wonder if
I need anything to secure it laterally. There is little sway when the bag
is strapped to the Dahon.

What is all y'all's experience? I see the slots on the bottom leather; do
you use them? One or both?

And will toe straps work?

Back to the Dahone: one day I may get a clamp on rack for the seatpost, but
for now this seems to work well.
