Yes, you could say the Hetre was the "tire that started it all," getting
the ball really rolling on the supple and fat revolution. But though they
are sold by Compass, as you probably know, they were not designed by
Compass. The Baby Shoe Pass is the Compass equivalent. I was not a fan of
the Hetre tread pattern, which made too much noise for my taste (or
hearing.) High class problem!

I've been riding the Rat Trap, EL version, almost exclusively for the past
few months, on my 700c to 26" conversion Trekendell. They have performed
amazingly on everything from fast club rides to singletrack with jutty
rocks. I now find I spend a good deal of what may or may not be considered
my discretionary income on Compass tires of one size or another. Yikes.

I have a pair of Barlows ready for a build, though they have already been
out-plumped by the Snoqs, which I suspect would also fit this particular
frame and fork. So far I have resisted Compassing my Clementine. So far...

Patrick, thanks for the 8-mile report!;^)
