If you really like that particular saddle and/or style, I'd try the shim 
and a Nitto s-84 seatpost , although it will look kinda odd as it the shim 
has a lip on it so it won't be flush since Riv seat clusters are curled up 
to a point. If you're handy with a file or dremel of you could file off the 
part of the lip that interferes with the curl-up. 

     I myself would rather go the shim/sp route so you can use any saddle 
you want.
