I rode wil inexpensive, though seemingly well made,  chinese hooded ponchos my 
wife brought back from china.


Its true that they are cooler than jackets, as I could feel the air circulating 
under the cape.
And. If the rain stops temporarily you can sling it over your shoulder behind 
you and ride poncho free.

I didnt like them for drop riding though because they felt like they got in the 
way of my hands reaching about for shifting/braking.

I think for upright they would be great though.
