Yes, the stock tires would have been fine. I had switched to Continental Race King 650bx2.2 before installing the lock and they rubbed when I attempted to install the lock. I switched to Schwalbe Marathon Mondial 27.5 x 2.0 and those fit fine. FWIW these are great tires for adventure rides with uncertain road surface conditions.
