Thanks for this; very interesting. Interesting too that the trail figure is exactly that of my Matthews with 700C X 61 mm (actual) tires (71.5, 55, 700C X 61). And, further, interesting that, while Merckx was 2-3 inches taller than I, the featured frame would fit me like a glove. I probably am at least as long in the torso as he, and like my bar considerably higher.
My brother told me recently that one of the best handling bikes of the many he's owned -- he included his RB-1 and a few other classics -- was an Italian marque from the period in question.
