FWIW, several years ago when I put clips and strap pedals back on both
Rivendell Roads, Tony Colgrave in England sent me 2-3 pr of Brooks saddle
leather leftovers rough-cut into size 10 inserts for my too-flexy boat
shoes. They worked a treat: stiffened and thickened the interface between
foot and pedal, yet didn't become slippery when I rode sans socks. I still
have them, in case I ever go back to clips and straps.

So, if you have an otherwise unwanted Brooks Pro lying around ... (or 2,
since they'd render about 1 insert per saddle)...
