I do it and i don't think is s hassle. The only real advantage I see is that, by soaking the chain, you are reasonably assured each bearing gets lube on it. Of course parrifin is cleaner than oil and that's the only advantage to waxing. I clean the chain ounce every 4-6 weeks with a Park tool widget, soak the chain in a crockpot of plain parrifin for a while and use a parrifin based lube in between cleaning. I don't track mileage or fret over it but it'd seems to work ok. I feel good about it and doing it raises me to a higher level of eccentricity among my friends. I tell them the photos look better when every rivet is waxed.
