I've never understoood GP's dislike for carbon to be based primarily on repairability. I thought it was much more the combination of the possibility for catastrophic failure and the racer-based mentality that carbon seems inappropriately to engender for riders who aren't racers (which = most riders).

Craig Calfee repairs carbon fiber frames and does a fantastic job. Want proof? Check out this damaged carbon frame: http://pardo.net/bike/pic/fail-016/BrokenCalfee.jpg Believe it or not, Calfee *easily* repaired this frame for something like $250. That was a few years ago, so it may be double that now. Still, not unreasonably priced. Further, Calfee has repaired thousands of carbon frames not his own including, but not limited to: Abici Orbea Cervelo Hed Zipp Trek Scott Specialized Look Ridley Kuota Pinarello Giant Colnago Bianchi Wilier Fuji Corima Blue Reynolds De Rosa Eddy Merckx Lemond Litespeed Time Javelin Cinelli Vellum Koga Miyata Marin Ibis Isaac Guru Raleigh Klein Campagnolo Cannondale Felt Jamis FSA Kestrel and more.
