Mine is set up with a mix of Shimano components, 9 speed indexed with 
bar-end shifters. I recently swapped the cantilever brakes out for Deore 
V-brakes. The braking performance was immensely improved. I could never get 
rid of brake shudder in the fork with cantilevers. Here's a slightly 
outdated pic. I've changed the seatpost and saddle since then.
