Ditto. I was using a long cage derailleur when I switched to the Sugino double a couple of years ago and noticed that shifting was slow (this is with a 5-speed freewheel). I dug up and old Shimano Crane out of my parts box, installed it, and removed a couple chain links. Now it shifts lightning quick. I like the gearing, as well. Gives me a top-end in the low 80's and a low in the low 30's, which is fine for the terrain over which I ride and sufficient range for my aging carcass.
