Smooth as butter, John. I think he'll really like the set-up. The range of the Silver shifter allows for non-fiddly shifting. The first round of Silver Shifters seemed to be fussy, needing just a bit of range per gear, making it tricky to shift on a jouncy trail. Not so with two. The derailure was easy to install and set up, using the video on Box's site dialed it almost perfectly (I found a bit of extra tension in the wee cog makes for perfect alignment for shifting all nine gears beautifully). Minimal chain bounce and snug chain with the clutch system works well too.
