While comparing two different tires on a Hunq, I've been commuting on my Rambouillet while my Disc Trucker has been adjusted to and in use by a friend right now. The tires are hardly the only difference between the two but the Schwalbe Marathons (of who know what iteration other than the ebike-ready labelling) are dreadnoughts compared the the RH Stampede Pass ELs on the Ram.
Pedalling and coasting ease of the light tires, over each centimeter travelled, is such a reward that I'll choose the penalty of puncture risk this time of year. Once I'm back to trudging through the darkness in the tunnel of my lights I'll remit to the other bike and it's 700 x 40 Marathons, mostly because it has room under fender for my snow tires. I didn't have to mount them at all this last winter, so the jig may be up on that proposition. Might have to part ways with that whole bike, buy some Steilacooms and call it a day. Once I've had the joy of low rolling suppleness on my commute I've found myself very aware of the energy necessary to turn those "puncture resistant" tires and wheels. I won't even go into the simple and effective Racer brakes on the Ram. Another thread.
