I don’t think he’ll mind me sharing this. He wants to participate in the
2025 ride.

That March 16 2008 ride was exceptionally windy and dusty even for
Albuquerque’s strong spring winds. We had Corrola-sized tumbleweed
aggregations barreling towards us at 30 mph as we rode South. In fact, one
participant bailed shortly after we got to the main No/So RG trail because
it was so windy.

I think I had to fix 2 flats during our 30 or so mile ride; this back in
pre-sealant days. And I am surprised to see how low my bar was back when I
was a spritely, lissome 53-year-old. IIRC, bar was ~6 cm below saddle;
about 2012 I adjusted all my road bikes to ~3 cm below saddle but with
longer reach bars.

I think that RBW listmember Eric Norris still has that Motobecane that I
sold to him what, 10 years ago? I put many miles on it before converting
the 2003 Riv Road custom gofast into a fixed gear commuter, itself replaced
in 2020 by Chauncey’s fixed/IGH clone.

We had a group post-ride recovery meal at Taj Mahal that, in those days,
was at our Corrales shopping center starting point. I do think that a
post-ride group meal is very much called for for our 2025 ride.
