We get a ticket that we need to claim our bike and I feel very secure locking my bike there. On the city streets, I do a dual lock up – – heavy duty U lock for frame and back wheel to immovable object, and a U lock between front wheel and frame to protect my Dyno wheel. However, do what makes you comfortable. Philadelphia is flat so a single speed will work just fine. If you’re coming down on the PA side on I-95, you might consider a stop at Washington’s Crossing State Park to ride the tow path. It’s my favorite ride in the region.
