He has to make fun of everything he mentions to avoid the appearance of favoritism. But you can still tell he appreciates well designed bikes that serve a purpose by hiding complements in his remarks. I think he once said that Rivendell bikes are favored by male cyclists in their fifties. He followed that by saying that male cyclists in their fifties who don't know about Rivendell, should.
