Not to diverge from the original subject too much, but these costs also don't factor in the price that every living thing on the planet pays when people, collectively, drive cars. That is, beyond the ~120 americans fatally injured by automobiles everyday, the millions of cats/dogs/wild animals roadkilled every year, and so on.
