2 weeks, 8 days on the bike, plenty of time for sight-seeing and
eating. Basically we took a train from Tokyo to the north coast, rode
around the Noto peninsula, and from there to Kanazawa, Hikone on Biwa
Lake, Nara, and Kyoto, jumping on trains every once in a while to
bridge distances that were too large. Then back to Tokyo on the
Shinkansen. For a pleasant bike tour in Japan, basically stay away
from the population centers along the south coast of Honshu.
