Todays ride was out-and-back with a steady 15 MPH wind, downwind going out, upwind coming back, 42 miles total with constant rolling hills. I rode my Road Std with 46/30 x 11-32 gearing. I never needed bottom gear, but had to hit the 30 a number of times grinding uphill and into the wind. I wouldn't have wanted to try it on a fixed gear!
