I mounted my albatross bars upside down with a tall stem and they
worked fine comfort wise but I prefer my noodle bars and the grip I
get on the hoods. That spot seems to take weight off my hand nerve
because of the way you can rest your hand. This doesn't work with an
albatross bar (for me). I also have tried mustache bars and actually
prefer them in busy traffic because of the strong grip when braking. I
don't know why the brake levers would feel like they were in a
horrible place. I experience that on rough terrain using the albatross
bars. On descents my grip would always slip forward when braking
causing me to have to readjust. With the mustache you are kept from
sliding forward when braking. The noodle bar is the best for comfort
but braking leverage is less from the hoods......hence my
recommendation for mustache bars in heavy traffic or rough trails,
noodle bars for long range comfort and albatross bars mounted high
(with a wide saddle) if you want maximum uprightness short of riding a
recumbent.
