We met on a chilly morning (low 40's at the start), 11 riders, 9 Rivs:
Bleriot,
Atlantis
A Homer Hilsens - 2
Sam Hillborne
All-Rounder
Bombadils - 3
Kelly Bedford
Kogswell

We rode about 45 miles each day, and it was about as scenic as you could ask for on a ride.  Streams, forest, mountains, some dirt and gravel, waterfalls, low traffic, old country towns with historic (or historic-looking) buildings.  And lots of climbing!  And wonderful companions.

We left the parking lot in Columbia NJ, and after a few miles into the Worthington State Forest for a few miles and then into the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.  We rode for miles along the Delaware River on the Old MIne Road, said to be the oldest paved road in the U.S.  Then for more adventure, we turned onto dirt/gravel Mountain Rd up to Buttermilk Falls.  We continued from there with Pocono Mountains to our west and eventually came out on pavement and then into Milford, PA.  Neat old houses, hotels - and after allotting 30 minutes to clean up (because cleaning up was not a priority), we regrouped to ride to beer at the Dimmick Inn (where we also ate dinner).

Great breakfast at the Milford Diner (where we all bought carryout lunch sandwiches) and then off for the next phase of the adventure:  riding in the Stokes Forest.  Beautiful scenic woods, streams -- and much climbing.  Bobby said that we should ignore the one-way road signs, there wouldn't be much traffic. Reward:  gorgeous view from top of Sunrise Mountain.  On to lunch at Swartswood State Park.  Then onto a dead end road to lead to the Paulinskill Trail - Bobby said we should ignore the "road closed" sign - it "didn't apply to us".  We eventually got to the Paulinskill Trail - the only dirt section for today.  We rode along the Paulinskill River for miles - again very scenic.

This was a terrific ride, Bobby did a super job of organizing.
Enjoy, Joan
