The mitten clearance: if my hands are in position just forward of the brake 
levers, resting almost at the bend, the brake cable passes fairly close to the 
bar between the first and second bend. Not a problem with bare hands but with 
thick mittens you've gotta kind of work to slot them in between the cable and 
bar. Not a big deal and strictly a winter issue.

On sprung seats: have considered it but nothing more. I'm using a men's B17 
with a Paul seatpost, so I can make fine adjustments to tilt.

Good to hear stories of upright bars bringing joy back to stiff-necks like us!

Again, the wideness of the 58's feeling great is a surprise given my stature.
