You are on the right track getting the contact points the same as your current 
road bike.   

I recently went through lower back pain and it was just having the seat to far 
back on the rails.  I put a lugged seat post on that moved it back 
considerably.  No back pain on today's ride..knee pain either.

So set your contact points and seat in relation to pedal spindle.   

I don't for real high maybe 1/2 inch over to equal saddle heights.
