Thanks all. There are some great resources listed above and I've got some maps to order and some planning to do. I am now thinking of taking the amtrak to mt. Vernon or Bellingham and spending around 5 days cycling and ferrying around the islands. From there we'll aim to ride to Portland and hopefully have a few days to explore the city. Really appreciate all the insight and experience of the riv riders up north.
