I do all my own work so far, so rarely need a shop. Every now and then I special-order parts, but try not to. I used to go out of my way to order through the LBS, but have pretty much given up on that. Invariably the part that arrived would be different from the one that arrived, even if I provided an up to date catalog part # (QBP or J&B). That's if they arrived at all. Nice employees at both of them, but I think my weird part requests are a pretty low priority for them. I understand minimum orders and all that, so don't begrudge them too much.
Jenson USA is a pretty big internet retailer, and about 4 miles from my work, so I use their will-call for most parts now. Good people as well, very into the local MTB community.
