I've flown with my S&S coupled Riv (and Sweetpea) many times.  Knock on 
wood, but they've never opened the case.  Maybe this summer.  Once they get 
it through their heads that my case is 1) within size limits and 2) within 
weight limits, (and believe me, I have had to clarify those points for them 
many times), it isn't an issue.

Although my husband did need to use the "bike parts" line at one check in.
