Kelly, I'll give these thoughts:
1. Somebody who wants to buy a used bike accepts that it will look used, but it will be a lot less expensive. For that reason, your repaint has extremely little value to your buyer. Most of the value in a repaint is that you got to pick the color. Once you've picked it, most of the value is spent. IMO. I want to buy a used 58cm Atlantis frameset. I'm not willing to spend an extra dollar for it having been repainted. 2. On the used market, high price complete bikes don't retain value. Part it out if you want to get more money out of your used bikes. Most of your used parts will work great on future bikes for you. Keep all the parts and sell all the excess frames, maybe with a wheelset. 3. Rivendells in particular, your buyer will want to spec their own build. Every part on your bike is a potential impediment to how they want to do their build. Another reason to part it out. 4. For fringe sizes, like a 68, the supply is tiny, but so is the demand. If your buyer isn't actively looking, you have to hook them on an impulse buy (meaning it has to be a screaming deal). If they are actively looking on this list, they'll post a "WTB". Maybe you should just sit back and wait for a "WTB" and be ready for them when they come. Your buyer is surely out there. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
